Quentin Goor works at Institut de Biologie Structurale (IBS) in the Dynamop Group.

His project: Deciphering the mechanism of the orange carotenoid protein by time-resolved serial crystallography.

Hello my name is Quentin Goor I start my PhD in October 2024 in Institut de Biologie Structurale after a master in Paris in biochemistry, my project of thesis is about the study of the photoactivation mechanisms of Orange Carotenoid Protein by time-resolved serial crystallography. I work mainly in the fields of structural biology and biochemistry.

I joined the DYNAMOP team under the supervision of Dr. Jacques Philippe Colletier who are interested in the dynamics of the proteins, my project is about the understanding of these mechanisms using synchrotron radiation and XFELs for deciphering the dynamic changes of the OCP on the femtosecond scale.
This protein is involved in the photo-protection mechanism of the cyanobacteria by quenching the excess of energy coming from the light to preserve the integrity of the cyanobacteria. Also, this protein can be very interesting in molecular biology technics because of her amazing capabilities and action during her photo-activation.
